Sometime software is not the solution to the business problem

Working in the software industry it’s easy to think that all problems can be solved with software. But, as you know, this is not always the case.

I was having a read of some of the ways people manage lists as part of GTD. There are bazillions of software products out there to do this on desktops and mobile devices of every shape and size. I came across this implementation of the lists without the use of software and I thought it was a really good example of a non software solution. It may not suite everyone’s needs but it is good to see some people still asking the question “Should this problem be solved using software?”.

It’s hard to get out of the habit of looking for a software solution to most problems. Especially when it comes to productivity boosters.

I agree with the post. Though it’s ironic right now given that I’m looking to attempt to set up a microISV and hence provide a software solution to something ;)

Darren, thanks for the shout out. I’ve been surprised (and pleased) with the responsive chord my little stack of index cards w/ bulldog clip has triggered.

The system works well…I’m sitting here at home this weekend and working through my home context list “white cards”. It’s a simple robust system. Hope it might help some others!!
